Doesnt mean it makes sense...

I would give the same advice to people surfing in Canada, stick to skiing, mtbing, WW kayaking, and dont bother surfing till you save up and go to the east coast of Australia.

Surely you have to let the environment you live in dictate your pastimes or let the pastimes dictate where you live.

Eg. I gave up WW kayaking is Australia, cause i got sick of scraping down dry rivers. Its all about bang for buck, and time. Ice climbing in australia is soo marginal that it just isnt worth the time and effort you need to invest (which is considerable).

You would develope more skills and get more climbing in one day in Canada than 10 days at blue lake.
