If you cant ski then hire snow shoes. Particularly given that you will have a heavy pack. Maybe you could take a small plastic tobogan to assist with the down hills ;-). be prepared to get cold and wet crossing the river also Oversnow transport from perisher to charlottes costs about 40-50$ one way i think. but that was a few years ago. so maybe more.
