I've been actively lobbying towards the permanent re-opening of the dam cliffs. The last thing that process needs is climbers antagonising the land managers by breaching the closure out of their own selfishness.
Lets run with a hypothetical here, how would you feel if climbing was banned at say Mt Arapiles or Shipley Upper because of climbers antagonising land managers (failing to stay on walking tracks, blocking walking tracks, poor waste management or failing to respect closures (eg. climbs closed to protect nesting birds)). Access should be EVERY single climbers responsibility and choosing to attack me for being actively concerned about it is quite perverse.
Where did I attack commercial operators? Or is that something you just made up for yourself? The first commercial license issued for the Dam Cliffs is for tomorrow (friday 23rd) so yes the Australian School of Mountaineering was there illegally. I find this extremely disappointing, IMHO commercial operators should be expected to operate to as high or higher standards of behaviour as the rest of the climbing community. For shame ASM, for shame.

P.S. The gate has been unlocked, the closure has ended, private climbers may now once again legitimately use the dam cliffs. Commerical operators still need to secure a permit from the NSW dept of lands.
