i was there a couple of weeks ago and it as easy as hell to get into. it is 'closed' but when i was there the australian school of mountaineering was guiding a group around a few top roped climbs, plus there was at least 15 other climbers/families there. it is always a great atmosphere to climb and chill out in.
to get there, the 4WD track is still open, but dont tackle it unless you have a fourbi, the ruts are freakin huge.
if not strap on the pack and walk down beside the train tracks to the second gate then follow that track around to the left until you see the water, then follow the water until you pick it up from the guidebook.
do wet feet, i think its a 17 out over the water. best there by far....
