There is a small quarry hidden behind the trees below the old Pentridge Prison in Coburg. It has substantially better stone than the usual crap found along the Merri Creek and as a general rule doesn't break off in your hand. There is a steep overhung line on the left side (still waiting to be climbed?) which is on the usual more dubious rock but the rest is remarkably solid. It is about 3 bodylengths high with an ok traverse and a couple of up problems. All very straight-forward, but if you are in the area and are desperate to get your hands on some rock .. its an option.

Ride yer bike along the Merri Creek or Park on Connelly Av, Walk across the little footbridge and head immediately back right along the creek (away from the city) for about 50 metres.
