The Junk Yard Cave

Feel like a change from the Mts, or Nowra, want something steep, close to Sydney (40mins) After a few queries from different people for info on the Junk Yard Cave here its.

This crag has been developed by Neil, Ben and myself after its discovery this winter. The rock is great, the routes super steep, well bolted with rings and its in the shade which should see it good for summer. Most routes in the 21 - 29 range. There are a few other crags in the area with potential for development and a few uncompleted projects that are tagged so please stay off these.

The cave has some of the highest and steepest wall in the Sydney area and is well worth a vist. There will be a bit of a crew of us down there on Sunday if you need a belay.

Yeah it has taken many trips down there to get used to the fact that its out the back of campbelltown but once your out away from the houses and in the cave you could be anywhere in the Sydney bush.

LOL, Jules, yes the AIRDS area is an eye opener, a little like Nowra in the 90s, ah those were the days. You wondered about getting out of your car anywhere near the Grotto or PC back then.

Thankfully the street you park in seems to be populated by families and oldies. They seem to be accustommed to the coming and go of cars due to the swimming hole just down stream from the cliff. I still dont leave anything expensive in the car. But then I dont do that at any crag here or elsewhere!!

Bloody good climbing here though.

Fair enough ! Airds shopping centre looks like it should be in the rough part of Port Moresby.

Sounds like there's gonna be a bit of a posse this weekend as well. You coming along, Matt?

I've been eyeing off the overhanging off-width next to Negative Funk and Bundy's new project... Looks like "great fun" .

Hey today i stole someones quick draw at junk yard today by mistake. I mistook it for mine, took it from the right hand end of the cliff, near negative funk (21). I'm keen to track down the owner, and get it back to them.

It could belong to Tiffany, Leith (Snacks), Mikl, Bundy...... They are the only names i know.... Is it yours?

PM me, and sorry!
