Dunno if they've re-graded it in the last year or so, but last time we camped there the first little hill on the road was in terrible condition and some people spent ages negotiating and scraping through it. And it is quite a long way. Nice campground though, I'll agree with you there.

Mt Hay Road is a better bet, plenty of little clearings along the road. As of a couple of weekends ago there was one trashed spot in horrible muddy condition on a steep section before the Fortress Ridge carpark, that required pushing, rocks under the wheels etc to get past on the way back out.
