I honestly wouldn't recommend either of these places for an ice climbing course. For the total cost of a NZ course you could do something in north America. You would have far better ice and deffinately get more climbing in during and after the course. Access to Wye creek isn't good enough to duck in for an extra day of ice climbing with a mate after the course.

We were in china a couple of weeks ago which had amazing ice, great weather and was incredibly cheap. There were some courses being run there. A Singapore guy runs courses there which would be good. A week course and you would get 7 long days on the ice.
