TND, you're making a value judgement on the original poster - do you know their circumstances? You can still work hard but have no money so need to dirtbag it.

Case in point myself while studying - self supported and working very long hours- I lived for a long period of time with a daily living budget (after rent/electricty etc) of less than $10 for all transport/food. It wasn't a Calcutta slum but still was not a hell of a lot of fun.The one thing that kept me sane was being able to get away on a weekend somewhere and camp cheaply, and ten bucks would have competely blown the bank.
