Pull the Ripcord

The large tree that you start Pull the Ripcord has dropped the branch that you use to start the climb. You can still do the climb from remaining part of the tree. We climbed it by stick clipping the first bolt with a wire from the tree. The grade is still the same and the climb is still good

Yes you can, I have put one bolt in a while ago but I still need to put one more in to replace the current position of the first bolt. I will possibly wait until the rest of the tree goes - in that case it will be needed

I thought you said you were going to put in a bolt ladder at the bottom to replace the tree, making the climb an attractive M1/16 ? ;-)

Perhaps we need to be thinking long-term and deciding what to re-plant the tree with when the rest of it finally goes (I vote for a quick-growing species with lots of horizontal branches); maybe the VCC could organize a watering roster...

I'm short and I think I found I had to step across onto the glued up rock in order to clip the first bolt when the tree was there. I must admit I wasn't too happy stepping on to the glue but reconciled it with knowing the rope over the tree would keep me off the deck. I wouldn't want to commit too much to that glued hold with the security of the tree as a runner.

How far is the reach now for shorties?

You can't reach the bolt until you have pulled onto the climb and you actually have to start from a new position. I would suggest that you stick clip from the tree or the ground.
