For those of you that are unaware, Western Vic has been hit rather hard by flooding - the Grampians and surrounds included.
Be sure to check out the VicRoads & Parks Vic websites prior to attempting to head into the area. A few "highlights" to illustrate the magnitude of the damage are:
120m section of the Northern Grampians Road has "washed away".
Enormous boulders fell onto Mount Victory Road (Halls Gap)
Several towns evacuated, including Halls Gap and Dadswells Bridge.
The river through Horsham due to peak this week.
Here is a link to the Parks Vic closures: http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1park_display.cfm?park=109
(Note the entire Grampians National Park is currently closed. Normally this page just lists individual road and campground closures. You'll find many other parks are also closed - such as the You Yangs. Check before you leave home if planning a trip).
The affected towns are going to need a lot of support when they come out of this mess. Be sure to stop in and buy some local produce to help pump life back into the local businesses when they re-open. Icecream in Halls Gap yum...
