Pretty sure sunscreen initiates a chemical reaction within the skin that helps prevent you burning, so after a while you can't 'rub it off' with a shirt collar. Unless you are using zinc, that is just a sun block. Either way you could get cancer from whatever it is made of, which is a bit ironic. Anyway, a hat is the best bet as you say...
