Moving along. Got smashed in the last fortnight (around 300mm rain in a week) and was closed to traffic. Some sections are near to getting sealed (particularly at the far eas and far wesdt of the works) and others (the Sassafras section of horrid mud filth in the wet) is still as it was, or even worse now bulk earthworks have begun in the area.

it's 20k's of work.

The contract to complete the final stage of work has also been awarded to NACE Civil Engineering Pty Ltd. The final stage of the project will deliver 20 kilometres of upgraded road from Tianjara Falls to Billy’s Hill near Bulee Gap and links the first two stages of work. It provides a safer alignment and improves the steep grade east of Sassafras.

The final stage of work started in July 2009 and is expected to be completed in late 2010.

Work on this section is progressing well. Earthworks to the east and west of Sassafras are nearing completion and construction of pavement layers in these areas is well advanced. Earthworks in Sassafras have commenced.

For all enquiries concerning operational matters relating to construction activities, please call the NACE Civil Engineering Pty Ltd site engineer, Merv Eagle on 0424 667 174, or the project supervisor, Bob Meins on 0412 464 866.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully on the remaining sections of gravel road as the road conditions are variable. Particular care should be taken in wet weather as unsealed sections of the road can become slippery.

While work is underway motorists may be escorted through construction works to ensure the safety of travellers and workers. This may involve a short delay and restricted speed through the worksite and motorists are advised to allow additional time when planning their journey.[/i]
