I'll add my 2 cent worth- slopony are great! Say hi to Mel (the Australian girl) when you get there!
most climbers end up hanging out at the Noble House (it's also a restaurant below and a bar above their "office") so even if you're on your own, you should be able to hook up with someone.
There are new climbs being put up there all the time, good variety of grades. Biggest concentration of climbs (last year) was on the Butterfly Wall, which is about 15-20 min ride on the motorbike, the family on whose land you park and climb also cook a great lunch!
or tons of deep water soloing.
We spent about 3 weeks on Cat Ba Island and I could have stayed there much longer. You do need a motorbike to get around, but it's dirt cheap. (or Slopony sometimes run a bus to the crag when there's enough climbers/tourists)
there's a guidebook for sale often on ebay, which is produced by SloPony I believe, if you want to have a squeeze before you get there. |
