I dagged up the other week and made a tyvek (ebay) bivvy using hand sewing and gorilla tape. It's been great! Weighs bugger all (300gms ish), cost about 15 bucks all up, got rained on and stayed dry. Got a basic plan off backpacking light. Makes up about 5 degrees on the sleeping bag. It's like knitting for men.
