1995, 2L, petrol, manual, 247000 kms, roof racks, tow bar, PS, CD/MP3 player.

12 MONTHS NSW rego

I bought this van in Dec 08 from the first owner. It is in absolutely immaculate condition -
both body and mechanically. It has a full service history and was recently serviced.

It has a bed with mattresses and storage underneath. I have been living comfortably in it
most of this year. I am only selling to fund a climbing trip to Europe for the rest of the
year.

The van is in Armidale, NSW. Email me (dugmcc@gmail.com) or call Annie on
0401977645 or look on tradingpost.com.au

sorry no photos yet....

Just so you know Sara, this car is located aprox 1400km from your house. Its would take at least 14 hours to drive there... :-)

Arrhhhh....bugger! Thanks NM.

Why are cars so expensive in Oz? (I'm so hijacking but Doug has abandoned this thread!) I resorted to looking on ebay...

Cars are probably expensive because everyone really needs one. This is because everything is rather spread out, and the public transport doesn't get you everywhere you need to go. Captive market, hey?

The father of a friend of mine is selling his fully tricked out Toyota Hiace campervan (bed, fridge, sink, storage, etc). He originally wanted $8000 for it but has gone down to $6900. I spoke to my friend this afternoon and he said his father would now take $5500.

It's white with sexy blue racing stripes.

It's in Goulburn which is closer than Armidale but still a fair way from Robinvale.

Sara, have a look on Ebay. There are some nice looking campervans for OK prices, if that is what you are after.

If you are going to do a fair bit of driving it might be more economical to pick yourself up a little 4 cylinder car, a tent and an esky.

bit boyey (yes that's a word!) for me but do you have photos - I'm still really in research mode at the moment ( I can use work cars for 6 weeks) - just looking around for options... that does sound quite good though

Still NSW does it have NSW rego? if so for how long?

Cheers Wall wombat. Aye, I like in principle the idea of a van.. less chance of being mauled by drop bears or attacked by spiders... and i'm not one for driving long distances so could just pull over and sleep.

had a look on ebay I' don't really know enough about cars though to be able to recognise a good deal beyond price and colour. The Speachy at work, her boyfriend is a mechanic so I'm gonna ask him methinks...

ok so for the girl that get's stuck beyond colours... 4 cylinder? that's like a little car? or is it like a holden/ford nice car?
Also looking at gas over unleaded or dual fuel as that's supposed to be cheeper?

I'm borrowing a Swag for the weekend just to test it out -was thinking about buying a tent also -Mike wouldn't let me steal his! but my thermarest etc still not here so would have to buy all that so gonna invesitgate the swag possibilty although I'd still get a tent as swags too heavy for hiking...

Defo gonna get an eskie tommorrow I'll need it for the weekend. x

PS. (post script not power steering!) Sorry for steeling your thread doug. but would still like pics if you get a chance -I did email... :-( x

The thing with gas is, it isn't available everywhere, especially not in service station that are "off the beaten track'.

I'll try and get a photo for you. It's in very good condition.

I would definitely talk to the speech therapist's boyfriend if he is a mechanic.

I have a van and I love it. It doesn't have a fridge, sink, etc but I have built a platform in the back with a hinged top. I store all my stuff underneath it and have a bed setup on top of it. It works a treat and was very easy to construct. It is also very easy to take apart if I need to use the van for moving stuff.

So don't limit yourself to a van that has all the campervan bells and whistles. They generally have pretty inflated prices.

Yeah, sorry for the hijack Doug. If I had a spare $7400, i would probably snap up your VW as I am a bit of a fan.

A van is no gauranteed means of protection.. perhaps a young drop bear will be put off by the tin and glass, but if you come up against a mature male it'll shred the vans body and pick you out like crab meat out of the shell. The only guaranteed safety measure is to carry a D.B.D.M with you at all times!

On a more serious note, huntsmen spiders are quiet good at getting in to cars. I know at least one person that's had one drop in their lap as they pulled down the sun visor. The passenger (who's quite arachnophobic) ended up in the back seat without undoing her seatbelt.
