I've had very mixed results with Kathmandu gear. I have a great pair of polyester trousers that used to go on all my bushwalks and are still my favorite for wearing around home.

I'm pretty happy with a pack I bought there about a year ago. It's reasonably light, and doesn't have a stupid bottom opening like 99% of full size packs on the market at the moment.

My Kathmandu sleeping bag is OK.

But a Kathmandu tent was the worst tent I've ever owned. The fly just tore too easily (probably because it was polyester), it weighed too much, and the floor was so thin you had to have an extra groundsheet under it.

I guess you just need to be carefull what you buy there.

Also there's a Kathmandu reasonably close to my home, so shopping there isn't a major expedition into the city.
