The front suspension wants upgrading if you want to do more biking than I do. V brakes and derailers are cheap shimano factory fitted stuff. If I was to keep it I'd upgrade the brakes and forks, then if I got serious I'd start docking weight and improve the gearing. The frame is nice and light though, if I were to build a bike I'd start with one like it
