having worked at kathmandu and sampled some of their better gear i can still proudly say outloud that it is shit. even at half price on sale you can spend a fraction more and get a much better deal. Their jackets aren't cut well. The hoods are shit. Their sleeping bags just arent well designed (i could feel the cold through the zip at nowra!) and their down jackets are complete crapola, one of mine looks like its filled entirely with feathers. They employ people to design things that are cheap.

On the other hand some expensive stuff is not brilliant but on the whole it is much better value and most of the time its brilliant. i wouldnt ever buy any technical gear there at all. EVER. i spose you cant go wrong with a fleece for round town, but i would never rely on anything from kathmandu!
