Don't sell your rope.

I lived in Port last year and while it's pretty bleak from a climbing point of view it's not a total write off. There is day trip-able climbing in Buladelah, good for a bunch of trips. I climbed some surprisingly fun single pitch sport routes there.

And if you're up for a weekend trip, drive 2 hrs north to the areas around Coffs, I never went there but they look like they have potential.

If you're really keen, outside Wauchope there are toprope-able cliffs at Bago Bluff up to 40+ m in height. Sadly the rock there (and all around Port) is this shitty conglomerate stuff. When damp it falls apart in your hands however when baked dry, as in the north facing cliffs it's totally climbable. I wouldn't trust it to hold a bolt though, hence top roping...

I drove hundreds of kilometres around Port looking for climbing while I was there and the best options I reckon are on Big Nellie in Coorabakh NP and this outcrop i scoped out at grid ref: -31.706038, 152.507998 also in Coorabakh NP.

Now I haven't actually laid hands on either of these but I know Big Nellie is made of granite not conglomerate which has to be worth something and David, a local GP who runs the climbing gym in Port mentioned something about there being old bolts on it.

I drove pretty close to the outcrop at that grid reference above and it's very large, over 50 m i'd guess and vertical. But it's about a 40 min bush bash up the hill from the road to reach it and I ran out of light.

There is heaps of rock in Coorabakh NP. Take a drive along Coopernook Forest Way, Newbys Creek Rd and Peninsula Rd. At any point you can pull over, walk a few hundred metres off the road and find cliffs. Despite the crap rock I reckon there must be some worthwhile climbing hidden there somewhere.
