Due to my inexperience with climbing gear I am faced with a difficult choice.
I am trying to choose between a 50m Blue Water 'Accelerator' 10.5mm and a 60m Blue Water 'Energizer' 10mm. It would be handy to have the extra 10m with the 60m (10.0mm) but will it be at the expence of a lot of durability (lifespan)? Yes I know the 10.5mm will wear longer but maybe not as much as I may fear.
My climbing consists of the very occasional trip to the Araps grade 10-14 trad, grade 20 sports routes on a planned 4 week trip to Tasmania this year, and top roping with my girlfriend (grade 16-19 climber) as well. Top roping may make up 30-40% of climbing. Oh yeah, I'll be doing a bit of indoor leading too. I will be moving to Sweden in just over one year (granite I think) where they say the 60m 'could' come in handy for certain rap stations (sports, top roping and some trad).
The 10.5mm (60m) has a fall count of 11 and the 10.0mm (60m) has a count of 9, if this makes a big diff in the end.
What do you reckon should be the decider here, durability or length? Maybe the 10mm won't reduce the life span that much anyway!? I don't know.
Just want to know what your experiences have been as I aint been out there that long.
Cheers,
Petter.
