Joshua Tree is definitely better than the you yangs. I actually found it very similar to mt buffallo (the summit area, not the gorge). It looks very similar- huge piles of massive boulders. As mentioned it is definitely a beautiful place. It was the first place we went on our overseas trip and was just so different from australias desert landscapes. There were cactuses, coyotes howling at night, rattle snakes, fat americans and their rv's
