So the article basically says that helmets can "stick" to the road and result in more head injuries than not wearing one.
It seems that would relate to what the outer material of the helmet is. The current polystyrene helmets that have the purely cosmetic thin plastic shells over the top I can certainly believe that they "stick" to the road (although, weather they "stick" more than a human head I have no idea). Perhaps going back to the good old stackhat type helmet, with a thick, strong polycarbonate shell might help things out a bit. |
