ahhhhh... the cathedral ranges.

It is a fair drive from the yuppie inner-city lifestyle I used to lead, but I did make the journey out there once....once!!!

Went to do a multi-pitch "classic" 13 at the Nth Jawbones....Jungle scope (or the one to the right of it), it was my first multi-pitch lead, some 130 m or thereabouts. We even took our lunch to eat at about the halwway mark...fantastic fun.

Great place to climb, lots of rock hidden all around the place.

the Rock appears to be very sound, with some massive flakes at some places. As to the rock being similar to that of Araps...well certainly not at the Nth Jawbones, didnt feel like sandstone, a bit more grity, quite good friction...just take all the shoes you have if thats what your worried about!

The Guide book that Mike refers to gives quite a good description and there appears to be some very worthwhile routes to do all around that area, just not a real trendy place to be seen...which is very important!
