I heard a rumour or two about RS's climbing claims in Sheffield before I moved back here but when he claimed his solo of the Brandler-Hasse on the Cima Grande, a four-minute mile and a 2hr 30min marathon...???!!! I think even his claim to be studying at Cambridge Uni is dodgy, it's a very hard place to get into and a year sitting in a library and a few A-level exams is not likely to do it!

BTW, Simpson was one of the most outspoken campaigners against Ben Heason for supposedly claiming flase ascents a few years back (I think there was a thread on here about it) and I suspect it is not a coincidence that Simpson's claims started to look a little OTT from about the time that controversy died out. See where I'm going with this?

All good for a laugh anyway!
