Sorry been away.
I did add an edit on the original post but its probably no longer relevant to this thread.
So yes I saw my self as the intermediary and I chose to pass on the information to the professionals.
Honestly I could probably have talked them out of the situation if the conversation hadn't dropped out.
If the route proved to hard to find I would have directed them back to the road and down the central gully path.
Thanks guys for backing up my decision.

Can I also request that the guys laying on the flak ease off and instead give constructive posts about ways for parties to prevent these problems happening so that they can pass it on???

Syrinx is an Egyptian name so logical conclusion would be Pharos as I never actually said Tiger Wall??? maybe????

Just brain storming for future solutions to these problems as I imagine it happens often enough.
Is there away of providing temporary cell phone coverage to an area? ie from the top of a cherry picker or something? Parking that in the pines would have allowed direct contact throughout that coverage shadow on the central gully left side.
Or maybe even high powered lights?
The few times I have been up there I don't remember actually seeing a trail before Alies so what about marking one. Cairns or maybe a pole with reflective tape on it like in the snow.
