the stripey bits are only on the southern edge whereas the chasms are in the northern end and dont have the stripes . from memory about 50 m high and down to 500mm wide rock there is a conglomerate type . the bungle bungle park is larger than belgium so it is a big place and the track in really does need a high clearance 4x4 vehicle the stripes are caused by organisms that grow on the rock and protect it from the weather the underlying rock is very soft and walking climbing would lead to eroding of the pancakes . with all the other good rock in the kimberly climbing is surely not a priority |
