Expanding on what has been said above, the climb.org.au route database is maintained by an incorporated, not-for-profit body whose purpose is to support and promote climbing. Through the use of a creative commons license it holds the information in the public domain.
Furthermore than that, a medium term goal of mine within the ACAQ is to put aside a seperate fund such that the annual interest exceeds the running costs of the route database, thereby guaranteeing that the route database will be funded into perpetuity.
If an area isn't up to the standards you'd like, then as Neil has said, it's a user created, maintained and editable database. Get in there and add the information, it seems imposing when you first sit down, but you'd be surprised how much of a resource you can create in one rainy afternoon, and once the initial framework is there then you'll find other users are much more willing to add to, edit and maintain it.
