Interestingly high performance Vectran rope is actually based on napthalene (moth balls).

Bluewater say that benzene should not effect their ropes, so chances are that napthalene, with a double bezene ring may not either.

Way, way back I used to be a young hot head and I too drove like there was no tomorrow ... Datsun 1600 and 2000 sports being my main weapons of choice. These days I drive much more sensibly, especially when our baby is in the car. However, just a thought for all the angry, impatient young hot heads ... drive respectfully and safely and one day you may be lucky enough to become an old man ... you may even be lucky enough to become an old guy who still climbs !
