Well that's just stupid. You've just depleted your Glycogen stores, if you don't consume carbs post session, especially immediately following training, then you do not adequately replenish stores which leaves you low on energy stores for your next session and opens you up to the possibility of injury and even immune weakness. Healthy complex carbs is definitely the way to go following training. As for protein, yes you need protein for muscle regeneration, but from a healthy diet most people get enough.
