I was in the climbing gym the other day and a few people had the PowerBalance Bracelets on. It was the first time I had actually seen one and I pretty much laughed in their faces. It is no joke, the tiniest little hologram embedded into a rubber bracelet. How the hell can something like this work? Are we really that gullible?
So I did a bit of reading on it. For those of you who don’t know, it’s a little (Tiny) hologram with frequencies within which react with your body’s own energy field.
People say it gives better strength, balance, endurance and all round improved energy. I call Bullshit! I haven’t tried it, so I suppose I can’t really comment on any first hand experience, but there is just no way in hell that this thing can give any real physiological effects – psychological, perhaps, although how does placebo sound???
An experienced surfer, who was trialling them (might I add for free, FOR THE COMPANY) was “a skeptic” at first, however after waxing a few into his board and having a surf, he was a convert. He swore that he was surfing more powerfully and didn’t fall off – that always could have had something to do with the fact that he had no leggy and was surfing conservatively in order to not lose his board..? He was told that “the water running over the holograms recharges them”. He didn’t know how it worked, but he believed them “because of the high profile surfers who endorse the product”…
Anyway, I’m a huge skeptic of this product. I don’t know how this could honestly work.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with one of these things? And if so, any specific climbing improvements?
Oh yeah, Anyone who wants to try it out, just give me an email, I’ll send you a sticker for half the price, which I swear enables you to place bomber gear more quickly…it also makes you look like a giant tool, but shhh, no one needs to know about that…
