After reading the planning thread I was wondering how anal-retentive climbers are given that it’s important to exercise a certain level of control to be safe. Now, anal retentive people are unable to act unless everything is in place - and if the pencils aren't stored in a neat box labelled pencils on the third shelf, there's panic. At the other end of the scale is a total lack of orderliness where the pencils are lost shorlty after being purchased. Normal is possibly in the middle, but normal is always open for debate I reckon. The categories are:

Totally anal retentive – everything has to be in place or its freak-out
Planner – things will be well organised and will arrive on time to pick you up
Improviser – has a vague idea, but will work it out as we go
Whatever – sadly, forgot to buy the food and runs out of petrol somewhere between Buangor and Ararat

Because self-assessment has its failings – we are all way to optimistic about ourselves – your selection should be based on one of your climbing buddies rather than yourself.
