I tried to carry my knife onto a plane in Thailand earlier this year. Totally forgot it was in there as I had already been on one flight earlier that day and they hadn't pulled me up on it.

I put my bag through the xray, then was called over to the inspection bay having no idea why. He pulled out a water bottle (another thing I totally forgot was in there) and threw it away. I expected him to give me my bag back but he kept looking. I'm thinking to myself "what the hell is he looking for..?" just as he pulls out my knife. My stomach dropped :( I apologised as many times as I could manage, half expecting to get some sort of fine, he threw it in the bin and waved me on my way.

The stupid thing is that I pretty much did the same thing leaving Sydney 1.5 years ago...except this time it was in my pocket! It would appear, they didn't have their xray machines turned on...
