You can buy dual-sim unlocked mobiles from china cheap on ebay. They will work with any networks sim. You can even have one telstra sim and one optus sim in the phone, and make or receive calls on either sim at any time. They are good if you have a work phone and a personal phone. So they could be a good option if your in an area where different carriers have different coverage levels. Just get a pre-paid sim from the 'other' main carrier, and you can make your call on whichever has coverage in the spot your at. I havent tried this myself (both my sim cards are telstra, one work, one personal).
