Speaking for myself, I have a great deal of respect for the climbing ability of anyone who onsights over 24 or so. However, I have even more respect for people who regularly lead climb at their limit, no matter what that limit is (mine is about 21/22, and not incredibly likely to increase more than a grade or two). What I have absolutely no respect for is people who appear to think that:
- climbing hard makes them better than other people;
- people who climb below a certain grade aren't worth knowing (unless they're of the opposite sex and good-looking); and
- people of the opposite sex should be happy to wait on them hand and foot in return for the privilege of knowing them.
Basically, I respect you as a climber, but as a person you've got a lot of growing up to do. |
