If you want to protect them from pedestrian traffic I'd suggest some interpretive signage and or fencing, if from abseil / rope damage then perhaps a route / abseil diversion is in order. I wouldn't sweat it too much tho mate, if their mirco-climate becomes too dry they'll simply die and be replaced by something else (prob a weed of some sort...). There're plenty of D. antarctia around the place and genetically I imagine they'd not be too dissimilar to those found in the Grampians (which aside from visual asthetics and a possible niche habitat, would be the only real loss if they disappeared). Now, if they were C. cunninghamii, you'd have a whole different situation!
