Tony Barton broke lots of biners and chains drop testing coach screws in rocks by throwing them off a local swing attatched to a chain, the bolts held. However, they seem to be soft metal so might be weaker than a glued in bolt or U.
These heavy duty "Anchor screws" were used on Taipan wall but the rock was too hard and they snapped.
I have seen stainless steel coach bolts, which might be strong enough, more testing required.
I have thought of the possibility of using these in a stepped (12 mm to 8 mm hole), packed with 15 minute epoxy putty ,and screwing them in, = glue plus threaded holing power. |
