I talked to the security guards at Edgewater a couple of weeks ago and they indicated that they have no issues with climbers on the wall facing the river (they are however very upset about idiots getting inside the compound and stealing/destroying property). I'm guessing that it's an old (1860s) munitions storage area. The place is historically listed and managed by Parks Victoria (who don't know what to do with the land - a museum or park has been suggested). I get down there at about 4.30pm most nights and recently there have been a few other climbers there by the time I leave. Maybe as the place becomes more popular the VCC should formalise access with Parks Victoria (and maybe ask for some seats and BBQs to be installed!). By the way can someone bring a little Roundup to get rid of the prickles in the middle section of the wall!
