Yes, I have a similar memory of 'go for it moves' on the crux just out from the belay, and then a bomber cam slot (#1 Camalot??) and maybe even an old pin.

p.s. the cam may have been John Croker's (JRC) I believe one of his seconds had trouble and the rest of the party had an epic benightment a while ago (but time passes slowly in the bungles)
