The first time I saw climbing was when I was teaching at a high school and we took the year 7s to HardRock in Nunuwading. I was soooo frustrated because they were having all the fun and I was stuck having to be the "responsible adult". So as soon as I could, I grabbed my son and said "were going climbing" for his birthday. So now he's climbing obsessed and I just potter about, although I wish I had started when I was younger! My age as a beginner makes me somewhat self concious amongst all the young'uns - especially out on real rock, but there's also the age-related part of me that says "who cares what anyone thinks" and I give it a go anyway. Depends on my confidence on the day and who's there I guess. But I am really glad we gave it a go - better late than never - and all the people we have met so far have been great and very willing to help out and share advice.
