Hmm. Sound a bit bitter.

You equate hard climbing with tool-dom. Perhaps your hypothesis needs testing. I can atest that many hard climbers are also very nice people. There are a lot of nice, moderate climbers too. There are also some absolute punters who are just idiots and awful to be around, but are too self absorbed to realise this; instead they blame their lack of social sucess on others.

Perhaps your experiences have coloured your outlook?
