The man with the head lamp was probably training not to forget it!

Nothing more upsetting than being caught out 3/4 of the way up a climb only to realize you left your two headlamps at the bottom of the crag. Then having to wait for a full moon to come out so you could bail; on the easier route next door.

The route was only a 23! Most casual climbers like my self aspire to maintain climbing fitness to lead 19-24, and I end up doing a lot of dogging on the upper range.

I say let the man train at the gym which ever way he chooses. After all gym climbing is just training.
