Don't bother with the climbing gym for training for mountaineering. You will be doing lots of walking up hills so aerobic fitness will be the most applicable. You probably won't do any rock climbing on the course anyway. NZ you spend most of your climb trying to avoid the rock as it is loose and nasty. I would joinn a club and try and climb as much as possible to build up your rope skills and continue with your aerobic training. |
