higuys,
i have a lot of experience in using ramset 101, i run a fall protection company and we use it all the time. i have never had any problems with the 101.
the questions i'd ask are;
1. are you using the correct applicator gun? this could result in incorrect mixing
2.Vanessa, if someone used the 101 previously, the hardener side may have crossed into the resin side and partially or completely blocked the side. giving an un mixed product.

NOTE: if you partially use a tube, switch the tap off and leave the nozzle insitu. when you use it at a later date, remove the old nozzle and check both openings. you may need to clear away some hardened glues to clear both openings and then fit a NEW clean nozzle on the tube.
try and keep the glue stored in a cool and shady spot in between uses.
i have no knowledge of the maximum standing time between uses though.
i have some 101 product specification and data sheets in PDF. which are very informative. if any one wants it please give me a PM and i will email all i have for you.
if i was any smarter i'd post them on here. but i don't know how.

in regards to wet and slippery's initial question
always use the 101 nozzle on 101. other nozzles don't work, don't believe the hype!!
this is probably why the mixing was out. also did you have the right applicator?
