Just get Ambulance Victoria membership ($60.00 I think?), that'll cover you Australia wide and get you to Hospital. Cheap insurance really. As Lee said, choppers aren't cheap if you don't have Amb subsciption. As kieranl states, Hosp costs are covered. You may even be entitled to medicare, without the agreement with the UK, because of your work and residency status. Either way your covered.
