I thought so too, but the Wagga-Deni route took me 11 hours with lots of speeding, and the Albury-Violet Town-Bendigo route took 10.5 hours with minimal speeding ( I have also done it in 8.5 hours, but lets not talk about that :-). I have stayed a few times at Sodens Hotel in Albury - cheap if there's a few of you and you can pick up deals on wotif. Its 2 minutes off the highway and has that old fashioned pub feel. www.sodens.com.au
