I learned the answer to this about four years ago when someone got bitten by a snake at work. The local ambulance arrived, sussed out the situation, then called a bigger ambulance. They sussed out the situation then called a helicopter. A helicopter then came and took my colleague to hospital (in spite of getting bogged in the mud and nearly tipping over on take-off). The lesson is you don't even need to be away from a bitumen road to need a helicopter. Don't hesitate to push the EPIRB button. JamesMc
