pazcoop, Josh, wallwombat all have valid points and I do not have argument with anything that's been said. The real point however is that, no matter what the motivation, it is totally insensitive to turn up in a devastated community with a camera. The day that any community that has just been through what many have in the past week think and say "Hey! We've just been through a historic event! Come in and tell our story while the embers are still burning!" will be the day that hell freezes over. Sure...the story does need to be told and without the press the support of the nation could not have happened etc. But for such purposes, the story can be told, and for the most part, has been told very well from the helicopters and the relief centres. Come back later…much later…and make the class doco. In the meantime, make donations to Red Cross if you can. Nothing personal Josh and I'm sure you meant well, but the “if I do make any money out of them it will be donated” doesn’t wash with me.

On a slightly different tack....I just hope MediaWatch and the regulators jump on the jerk from one of the commercial stations who the other morning on camera said “over here we have a lady who I know doesn’t want to be on camera…” and then walked over and shoved his microphone at her.
