How can rapping down a climb, inspecting it and marking the best holds count as onsighting it?

and bolting doesn't? climbing damages the rock more than natural gear, as does erosion. What's your point Vanessa?

Sure it's still fun climbing it but it's not really a true onsight. It's more of a challenge if you don't know where the holds are. It's like having a climb which hasn't got chalked up holds to show you where to go. Finding holds is part of the adventure.
