because under common law and the trade practices act, you MUST make people aware that they are engaging in a dangerous activity and they may get hurt. you the climber can get hurt and make mistakes and then want to get compensated and then the gym can get sued due to the law as it is. The gym consists of the people who own it and the people who work there, every one can get sued, so there is insurance to cover these issues.
Hey, how would you feel if at the end of the line you got taken to court for something you said, you gave advise to some one who was hurt because of your instruction, this can happen, so the gym has PL insurance to cover the people who work there, this part of the insurance is called Professional Liability. Would you like to loose what prossessions you have because the gym dosent have the right insurance, reckon NOT.
Where I work, it is drilled into us why there is insurance is so necessary and all the different sections of insurance. It seems to me that everyone is bitching cause they want to bitch and they dont understand what it is about, in some ways neither do I. But no matter what adventourous activity you do now, if it is run by a commercial organisation then you sign a awaiver form.
I had a NASCAR ride and if yoiu think climbing gyms wavier forms are bad, then try that activity.

Really at the end of the day, from where I see it, if you dont want to climb at VR, Altona, Nuna, Seaford, which I see is never mentioned, may be they dont have forms, then dont climb, stick to the rocks. and Neil, looking at one of your short vids I see you take a good fall, if you had broken your back, would you sue the Parks cause they didnt check the rock face even though it was your own fault because your gear popped, whos fault was that, was that the fault of the pereson who taught you to place gear, was it your lack of expertise, was it the manufactures fault that they didnt tell you your gear could pop, or was it because it was just your mistake, you dont seem to have any regard for your safety.

There is a gym in the ACT that dosent have insurance, has a sign up saying
no insurance, dont bother sueing as I dont have any assets, may be eveyone can go there, looks like the place to be, only a couple of hours from NSW, just like a trip to Araps. Cheap, cheap entry prices, no kids just regulars and they are making big bucks, they are always doing renos NOT. but NO waiver forms.

You know, I am doing a course in ODE with focus on climbing, am doing ACIA cousre at present and now think F...it, I am really over all this crap, whats wrong with just climibng and doing what is asked of you when visiting a gym. I am out of the gym now as well, thought that would give me experience and meet like minded people. All I see and hear is bitch, bitch and complaining.
Oh well lifes a bitch and then your dead, so I am moving on, hope all you stoners find other topics to complain about. Hope VR makes it.
Adious amegos, what ever, I am out of here.
